Blueprints of Life

blueprints    We are building a new maintenance building at the jail that I work at.  The foundation is in the process of being laid now.  The forms (the wood that holds the wet concrete in-for my less manual labored readers) are in place.  The powers that be decided to run all of the electrical pipe in the foundation, which means that all the pipe has to be laid out before the concrete comes.  Thankfully the boss assigned this to one of the other guys in the shop.  For those who don’t know I am an electrician, there is another guy in our shop who is an electrician/Air Conditioning guy.  He has done new construction before and I haven’t so he got the job.

The other day I saw him at the shop and he was mad, not irritated, he was steam out the ears, forehead beet red, fists clenched mad.  I again thought, thank you God I didn’t get stuck with that job.  I asked him what was wrong.  Apparently the electrical pipe he had been putting in the last few days was all in the wrong spot.  Apparently he was measuring off the wrong plans.  He had the electrical blueprint but he needed the general building blueprint.  The electrical plan looked to scale but it wasn’t.  There was only one blueprint he could use that was right and it wasn’t the one he had been using.

His work looked good, and to the untrained eye it looked right, but when the job foreman looked at it he knew right away it was wrong.  A lot of times people look good.  They look like they are living the right kind of life.  They help people, they give money to charity, they may even go to church, but without Jesus they are reading the wrong blueprint.  They are living life according to their design and not God’s.  It may look good but to the trained eye, they are a little off.   They are not lining up with His plans.  “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”  Jeremiah 29:11

Remember-  God’s plans for your life will give you a strong foundation to build on, not even a hurricane can destroy that.
