Do Something!

Action I am not going to do a normal post today.  Today I am doing an “Action Post”.  What’s an Action Post?  Thanks for asking.  It’s a post that let’s you know about a way you can help others.  If you have read this blog for any length of time you know I focus on love.  Loving God and loving others.  Why do I do this?  Because Jesus did it.  He loved God and loved others.  And since my goal is to reflect Him, I try to do the same.

Let me make a point, every one knows about the new Health Care Reform that President Obama and most of the rest of the Democrats are trying to pass through right?  I don’t care what side you fall on, agree or disagree, the fact is that it shouldn’t be an issue.  Why?  Because if those of us that call ourselves Christians or Christ0Followers were doing what we were supposed to, taking care of the poor and needy, the sick and oppressed, the widows and orphans there wouldn’t be a need for Government Health Care.  But what we have done is become greedy.  The New Testament Church was way different than us.  Do you know how they dealt with those in need?

43-45Everyone around was in awe—all those wonders and signs done through the apostles! And all the believers lived in a wonderful harmony, holding everything in common. They sold whatever they owned and pooled their resources so that each person’s need was met. (Acts 2:43-45, The Message)

They sold their “stuff” and GAVE it to those in need.  I am as guilty as everyone else.  I love my “stuff”.  I want new “stuff”.  But “stuff” doesn’t make you happy or content.  It just makes you want more “stuff”.

Here is the cure for that cycle of buy, buy, buy, want, want, want…..  Give “stuff” away.  Give away money, cars, furniture, whatever.  Give it away.

Wednesday morning the U.S. awoke to see tragedy and suffering on a scale we haven’t seen since the tsunami’s hit the Asian and African coasts.  Now is our chance to help.  Below is a simple, easy way you can help.  Please take the time to consider it.injured-boy-next-to-RC-worker

The easiest way is to text the word “Haiti” to 90999.  This is a legit number.  It is  posted on the The White House Blog as well as on the Red Cross website.  If you are not a texter you can also make a donation by calling 1-800-REDCROSS or 1-800-257-7575 (Spanish).

Another way to help is to call local churches and ask if they are doing anything.  I know a few in my local area is taking food to send over.

You can pray.  You can PRAY!  YOU CAN PRAY!

Now is the time to make a difference.  Now is the time to step up.  Let this be the beginning for us all.  Help those around you.  Help those in need.  Show them the love of God.

It’s all about Him,
